The works of business person in modern society are verified, and we are in an era the skills to conduct numerous duties in more than certain quality at the same time are necessary.
In the time restricted of 24 hours a day, there may be many business persons who struggle how to enhance the efficiency of the work and increase productivity. Rather than working on the work blindly, handles the work with a certain point of view even for a short time, the results will be drastically different.

To be aware the formula “Profits=sales-costs”
Although this formula seems obvious at the first glance, having the opportunity to take your time to think about it may not be so often. Once again, I would like to suggest why increasing the productivity is important.
First, as a prerequisite, in order for company to survive, it naturally needs to be profitable. Except the case of volunteer organization, company hires employees and needs to pay salaries. In situation like this, if the company is in deficit every year, it will face the crisis of bankruptcy, and will be difficult to maintain company structure.
Then, what is needed to do in order to be profitable. It is simple and below formula applies.
For the costs, there are many expressions as prime cost or expenses, but here I use the expression of “costs” to put them together. By having this formule in your mind, the attitude for work will somewhat be different. In short, in order to be profitable, there are only two ways – either “increase the sales” or “lower the costs”.
Practical way of thinking in order to decrease the costs
Within the two methods above, regarding decreasing the costs, there is a way for solution by increasing the work productivity. Within the costs, labor cost represents large amount of it, and reducing it is a key to increase the profit.
Let’s say there is a work taking 10 hours, rather than having it done by two persons (labor costs for two persons are equal in this case) 5 hours each, it to be done by one person by 8 hours with higher productivity, the cost will be lowered.
In the above example, there are reduction of costs of 2 hours, but by the accumulation of small amount of costs, labor costs that truly needed are kept to lead to optimized management. Also, if the work done by two persons can be assign to one person, the other can do a different work. By doing so, development of new products, and improvement of services are expected, and as a result, it will lead to increase the sales.
Having doubt in daily work is important
By having the awareness to increase the work productivity, it is important to be attentive whether there are unnecessary works or the numbers of people for the duty are appropriate.
It means it is important to question the work in good ways.
By having doubt to the work, such as “Is it really necessary?”, “Can this be done without it?”, “Aren’t there other ways to solve it?” you will have your way of thinking and do proposals. For that purpose, you need to think conciously what is the real results customers are looking for.
It is difficult to quantificate all the works, so not looking for perfection of them, rather by having communication and understand what customers are looking for, and by proposing to fill their demands, there are lots of solutions.
There are often problems that only you find them bound you, and by understanding the real nature of the results, there would be reduction of working hours.
Such daily efforts will lead to the improvement of the management in the range of months or years, so it means a lot to start such efforts to increase the productivity.
